Preschool Education – What You Must Teach Your Preschooler – by Deanna Mascle

Many members of my mother’s generation did not even attend kindergarten. Many members of my generation did not even attend preschool. With my son’s generation preschool has become a necessary part of preparation for formal education. In fact for most children, formal education actually begins with preschool. The Alphabet Printables

April 29th, 2008 by admin

One great way to teach our children about the alphabet is to correspond words and pictures with each letter. The following link is from Funschool and you can download and print pictures of the alphabet with a picture that goes with each letter. They are coloring sheets.

Phonics and Learning To Read Games, Make English Fun by Victoria Welch

A phonics learning game can have many advantages to a traditional way of learning abc.The alphabet can be a hard concept for your preschool child to learn, and I have found that some children, if they have been over pushed, are reluctant to do any activity with the alphabet, even worse, I have known children to just say any answer, to get it over with.

Preschool Theme – Trucks

April 15th, 2008 by admin

Today we are looking into trucks for our preschool theme of the day.

Why? Well, yesterday my oldest was watching Dora the Explorer and rediscovered trucks. Now all day today he is telling me I want trucks. I don’t have any… etc, etc. This is what we are doing to celebrate trucks (instead of his favorite, which for the past 3 weeks was trains).

Activity

These are the thoughts I have for activities and a few links to others you can use if you don’t like mine.

I think a fun thing to do would be to call an appliance store and ask for a big large box, then let the kids crawl into it (once home) and pretent to drive it. This is my favorite idea because it will keep them active all day.

However if you want other ideas, here you go: http://www.perpetualpreschool.com/preschool_themes/trucks/theme.htm

Song

the wheels on the truck the wheels on the truck go round and round round and round round and round the wheels on the truck go round and round all through the town

Here is a couple of coloring pages for trucks:
