Community Helpers Preschool Crafts

May 15th, 2008 by admin

community helpersFirst School has some great crafts to do as far as police officers go.

There is a police hat the kids can color. You can help them cut it out and staple some elastic to it and they can wear it as a hat. There is a badge they can color as well. On the back put some rolled up tape or some velcro and they can wear this as well.

Preschool Activities- Playing with Cars

March 18th, 2008 by admin

car2.gifThere are a ton of things you can do playing with cars. We love them at our house. Here are just a couple of things we have done with them.

Taught our oldest colors. One day while playing cars with daddy, daddy decided that he wouldn’t give up a car unless he was told the color. At first he would say the color and make our oldest repeat it. They only did red and blue that day, but it started a life long lesson of choosing colors, just by playing with his then favorite toy.

Cars the Movie, this taught us so much, but of course we watched it hundreds of times. We got to teach more colors, counting and naming the cars, more for memory as well.

Last but not least we have used them for a craft. It was on about.com and what you do is take cars that have different wheels and then you grab some finger paints and let them dip the wheels in the paint and make tracks on the paper. Its pretty cool, because later they can use it as roads to play on.

Part of being so young is experimenting and learning, let them use all their options, this is the most important time of their lives.

Preschool Activities- Puff Paint Snow

Preschool Art Activity: Puff Paint Snow

cutecolorsanibear16.gif
Making snow is one of my favorite preschool winter activities. Children from pre-k through second grade can enjoy this creative shared by Luauna. Just remember to keep the shaving cream out of little eyes, it stings.

Materials: Turquoise blue construction paper, snowman shape (I use the Elison snowman), collage materials, shaving cream and glue.

Description: Have children decorate a snowman with the collage materials; wiggly eyes, buttons, foam shapes, ribbon, etc. Glue to blue paper. Mix equal parts of shaving cream and Elmer’s glue. Have the children use popsickle sticks, q-tips, plastic spoons, etc. to add the mixture around their snowman and make hills of snow and snow falling from the sky. When the mixture is dry, it makes beautiful puffy snow.

This activity was taken from the awesome Preschool Website Preschool Rainbow, you can find other great winger activities by visiting yourself.

I got the clipart for this post from www.cutecolors.com Be sure to check them out.

You can seal the bottom the this toilet paper roll craft (just glue on a circle of paper). Then fill it with cinnamon hearts (or other candies) and seal to top.
