Easy Preschool Valentine Crafts

valentines-heartPreschool Valentine Crafts are a great way to celebrate this joyful day with your preschooler. You can make this activity fun and entertaining along with being educational.

Talk with the young ones about Valentine’s Day and how it came about. Giving a little bit of history will help the children get involved in the activity.

Although there are a lot of arts and crafts that are adorable, they may not be age appropriate for the children. You want the activity to be simple enough for them to enjoy. Crafts that are too complicated for the preschoolers end up causing them frustration, which can never end well.

To get you started here are a few fun and simple ideas to share with the little ones to celebrate Valentines Day.

The Chalk Heart

This one is quick and simple with a very easy clean up.

  • Collect some pink construction paper and cut them into various sized hearts.
  • Then you will need to take a dishpan and fill it with some water.
  • Using a butter knife, you will want to grate some white and red chalk on the water’s surface.
  • Once the water is covered well by the chalk lightly dip one side of the paper into the chalk and then place it in a safe place to dry.

Valentine’s Day display

Let us make foil hearts. The supplies that you will need are aluminum foil, construction paper in the colors pink, red, and white, along with glue, scissors, red paint, and Q-tips.

  • Allow your preschoolers to select the color background they would like to have from the construction paper choices you have provided.
  • Then cut out two or three aluminum hearts, depending on the size of the hearts, and glue them onto the construction paper.
  • Using the Q-tips, have the child paint the hearts any way he or she would like.
  • Lay the sheets of paper flat to dry and then you will soon be ready to hang them up as decorations.

Valentines placemats

For this little project, you will simply need paint, laminate or contact paper, red paper, and a liquid paper correction pen.

  • Using the large pieces of construction paper, cut out a heart about the size of 12 x 18.
  • Paint white paint onto the hands of the children and help them place their hands down on the heart.
  • Using the correction pen, you then can write the child’s name on the red heart.
  • Finish it up by laminating the heart or allow the child to add glitter or additional decorations beforehand.

In the end, whether you use these preschool Valentine crafts ideas or you create something of your own based on these ideas, just make sure that you are having fun and that you are giving the children activities that will keep them entertained.

The main thing is though that you want to make sure that the kids are safe and that everyone involved is having a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day, even the adults.
